  To examine something very carefully (UK and Australia: scrutinise).

  Scientists scrutinized the samples for errors.科学家仔细检查样本是否有误。

  In geometry, a slice of a circle between two radii.

  The area of the sector is a fraction of the circle’s area.扇形面积是圆面积的一部分。

• similar triangles

  Triangles with the same shape but not always the same size; their sides are proportional.

  The triangles are similar, so their sides have a ratio of 2:3.两个三角形相似，所以边长比为2:3。
