Plural and possessive nouns

Quy tắc

Plural nouns usually add -s (scientists). Singular possessives add ’s (the scientist’s notes). Plural possessives add an apostrophe after the s (the scientists’ notes).

Số nhiều thường thêm -s (scientists). Sở hữu số ít thêm ’s (the scientist’s notes). Sở hữu số nhiều thêm dấu nháy sau s (the scientists’ notes).

✔ Đúng: The two researchers’ findings were published last year.

✘ Sai: The two researcher’s findings were published last year.

→ Cách sửa: Two researchers own the findings, so the apostrophe goes after the s: "researchers’".

Mẹo: Ask: one owner or more? Is anything owned at all? No owner = no apostrophe.
