Words such as "each", "every", "one of", "neither" and collective nouns like "team" usually take a singular verb. With "either…or" and "neither…nor", match the verb to the nearer subject.
each、every、one of、neither以及team等集合名词通常用单数动词。either…or和neither…nor的动词与较近的主语一致。
✔ 正确： Each of the samples was tested twice.
✘ 错误： Each of the samples were tested twice.
→ 改正： "Each" is singular, so use "was".
技巧: "One of the…", "each of the…" and "the number of…" are singular; "a number of…" is plural.
